ABOUT THE COLLECTION: The Origami Punk Doll collection is made using DRESS origami/punk pattern cutting techniques - combining the craft and economy of origami, sculpting shapes from flat symmetrical squares and rectangles, with the outsider thinking and adaptive inventiveness of punk. A reverence for detail, neatness and traditional forms meets with a freedom-seeking irreverence and urge to break those forms open.

All the Origami Punk Doll pieces employ this technique of ripping and folding, requiring each piece to be individually crafted and sewn. Garment stitch seams are minimal and short, creating gaps and entry points to allow for maximum freedom and openness of wear. Fabric is often used across grain for added volume, and the selvedge edge of the fabric used - the often contrast fabric border that is usually discarded. There is a unique precision to each piece, which has been heavily researched and developed. The DRESS collection is made in England, using limited stock fabric and in line with the founding CRISIS manifesto principles of make, to gratefully respect and honour our earthly resources.
